Nadeshiko from MOE (Maids of England) will be singing Animé Covers for you all at G-Con 2016. She will be performing two 30-minute sets on the Saturday and one 30-minute set on the Sunday. Read on to find out more about her and Maids of England!
When did Maids of England start and who is a part of it?
Maids Of England started on 22nd July 2011 and consists of eight maids and three butlers, as well as staff who run things in the background.
What was the inspiration behind it?
We decided to have a cafe in London so our Goshujin-sama and Ojou-sama can return home safely to us, since they wanted to so badly. It’s not like I wanted to see them or anything.
What do you do when you attend conventions?
We usually get invited to hold a pop-up cafe, or we perform (as a unit of 2, 3 5 or 7). We have over 5000 fans all around the world, not only the UK, you know! We’ve been invited to Northern Ireland, Germany and Japan to perform. We have also had pop-up cafés at most conventions in the UK.
What does MOE provide for the online community?
For our online fans, we have a YouTube channel where we post seasonal dance content, vlogs, Japan guides, as well as other miscellaneous videos that help people get to know us more. We also have a playlist full of performances we have done in conventions or concerts, such as live performances we did in Japan.
How long have you been performing?
M.O.E have been performing for almost 3 years now. However, the maid café has been in operation for over 5 years, where we regularly perform at every event.
Do you work on any solo projects? What do you have in store for your time on the stage at G-Con?
I spend most of my time sleeping, eating, watching Kamen Rider and Gundam series, as well as playing video games. For G-Con, I suppose I can sing some of my favourite Gundam songs… if you really want me to.
What is your favourite Gundam series and what’s your favourite thing about Japan?
Hey, I don’t like picking favourites. It really just depends on my mood. My favourite Gundam series are Gundam 00, G-Tekketsu, 08th MS Team, Build Fighters, Char’s Counterattack, Unicorn and The Origin. Akihabara is cool because they have a Gundam Cafe (which I always go to), as well as shops full of mecha merchandise.
08) What kind of music do you have in store for your time on the stage at G-Con?
There will be classics such as “Tobe! Gundam” (The opening for the first MSG), a song from MSG: Iron-Blooded Orphans, and a lot of songs from the MSG 00 series. You’d better not miss it, or I won’t forgive you!
09) Anything in particular you’re personally looking forward to seeing at G-Con?
Honestly, it’s a toss up between the Gashapon station or the Gunpla competition. I love collecting Gundam Gashapon when I’m in Japan, so it would be cool to get them from here too. As for the Gunpla competition, I want to see all the cool Gunpla people have made or modified. I actually wanted to enter too, but I overslept past the deadline…
